Welcome to The Evergreen State College Library's
Government Documents and Maps
Governments Docouments/Maps (GovDocs/Maps) is located on The Evergreen State College's campus, on the third floor of the Library Building, LIB-3302
GovDocs/Maps was designated as a Federal Documents depository by Congresswoman Julia Butler Hansen on March 8, 1972.
GovDocs/Maps receives from the Government Printing Office (GPO) 39% of everything published and distributed by GPO.
Each Federal Cabinet department has a number of agencies and sub-agencies which allows them to do the work that needs to be done. In turn, each Federal Cabinet department and its agencies publish numerous titles. The Cabinet department decides which titles are deemed for distribution via GPO.
GPO then publishes the titles sent to them by each Federal Cabinet department and distributes them to the numerous depositories around the country giving first priority to the 53 Federal Documents Regional Depositories. The depository system tries to have at least one regional depository per state. Washington State Library is the regional depository for Washington and Alaska.
At GovDocs/Maps we strive to provide the best service possible to all our patrons. For more information, go to our GovDocs/Maps Services page to see if we can meet your research needs.
